holidays

growing up as what some might call a "pizza bagel", defined by the urban dictionary as 'A Man or woman who is 1/2 Jewish- 1/2 Italian, the holidays have always been the best days of the year.(yes, that means I get to celebrate them ALL).

the holidays are the gathering of family and friends to celebrate good health and happiness. however, all of those celebrations tend to revolve around food.

gathering for the holidays continues to be a learning experience occassion after occassion. however, with the help of the celiac community, caring friends and the love and support of family, you will soon realize what the holidays are truly about.

holidays. defined by me, marci., are the most memorable days of the year. holidays in my family are filled with family, friends, food, festivities, fun and fashionable outfits, hairstyles, table settings, place cards, flower arrangements and gluten free labels. the gathering of family and friends, whether in stilettos, reva ballet flats (thanks tory burch) or my favorite flannel pajamas, are my favorite days of the year. no matter what you are celebrating and who you are celebrating with if anyone at all, all holidays are worth celebrating and they are worth raising your glass to.

it is always important to cheers (whether it be water or wine) and celebrate your healthy gluten free life as a celiac. like parties, holidays and navigating the planning and preparation involved in the celebration can be baffling. where are they going to be celebrated? are the pots and pans going to be sanitized?  can I indulge in the festive foods that come along with the most memorable days of the year? those were the exact questions I asked my self upon celebrating my first holidays as a newly diagnosed celiac and I continue to ask myself those questions as a cognizant, more seasoned celiac. its important to follow the 3 P's that come with planning and attending parties around the holidays and it is important to be grateful.

be grateful that you are healthy and can celebrate, be grateful that you can contribute your delicious gluten free food to your holiday gathering, be grateful for those with whom you are celebrating with as they are probably your support system through the gluten free up's and down's of living with celiac disease and be grateful for working to put a gluten free twist on your typical holiday customs!

your new gluten free life as a celiac living instyle will for sure be worth celebrating.
