parties
parties, parties, parties. as my friend and fellow celiac Cara would say "CROSS CONTAMINATION NATION", ohhh the anxiety that used to come whenever I heard the word party.
being invited to a party with celiac disease can be super intimidating to not only the celiac but the host. just the thought of all the gluten flying around, the mixing of the forks, dipping, sharing and tastes. a receipe for disaster and even worse a really bad stomach. again 3 P's to help tackle the party scene, safely and stylishly.
PICK, PLATTER and PLATE.
PICK, before going to any party whether you are a celiac or not, it is always a good idea (especially when looking out for that fabulous physique we all strive for) to pick on something before leaving the house. going to a party without the annoyance of your stomach growling will ensure that you are not going to be bummed that you most likely can't eat any of the food there.
PLATTER, bring a platter of something gluten free if you are going to a house party or holiday party, this allows you to have something to nosh on. don't forget to label it in order to avoid cross contamination with other non-gluten free platters and be sure to make it delicious! it always helps to introduce excellent gluten free foods to those around you!
PLATE, try to plate the food you are able to eat at a party before the guests bombard the scene and cross contamination nation occurs and put it to the side! saving your plate to the side will ensure that you are able to nibble and taste throughout the duration of the party and allow you to engage and enjoy with all of the guests!! (thanks for that one mom!!)
