get serious. celiac disease is serious and must be treated with a strict gluten free diet. wake up on the positive side of the bed and open your eyes to the endless opportunities you have living a gluten free lifestyle. yes, it is scary and new, but you will feel better, become more positive and most importantly be healthier and stronger.
education is everything. living a healthy life with celiac disease is my full time job (amongst many other things). use this website and the plethora of information that the internet has to offer to educate yourself. without knowledge and information the initial diagnosis is extrememly overwhelming.
involvement. being immersed in the gluten free community among my fellow celiacs was challenging at first. navigating my daily routine, researching how to eat and live this new gluten free life. carefully dealing with all of the initial feelings and emotions was a challenge. getting involved in the celiac community of NYC quickly became a blessing.
getting up, getting out and getting back on my feet took me some time at first.
